The Hamilton Technology Centre Welcomes CHCH to The Neighbourhood at Innovation Drive

June 15, 2021 - Jessica

The Hamilton Technology Centre is a private innovation hub located in Canada’s Innovation Corridor. HTC opened its doors in 1993 and is currently striving to foster the development of technology companies by providing space and community to new and accelerating companies who choose the Hamilton area as their home.

One such company, Hamilton’s local news leader CHCH-TV, recently announced a move from their legacy broadcast studio in downtown Hamilton to the neighbourhood where the Hamilton Technology Centre currently resides, on Innovation Drive. Construction of a brand new 14,000 square-foot broadcast centre is well underway, and the permanent move of all CHCH-TV broadcast operations will take place in the fall of 2021.

As a major first step in the transition, CHCH has taken up a temporary “Summer Camp” residence at HTC. The short-term studio space is conveniently located across the street from the soon-to-be-completed CHCH broadcast centre. Partnered with HTC and Clearcable, CHCH can continue to produce quality, reliable daily local news broadcasts, and at the same time ensure a smooth transition process to its permanent home on Innovation Drive.

Wayne Rabishaw, Operations Manager of CHCH states, “We appreciate the collaborative and flexible support of the Hamilton Technology Centre during this exciting move to Innovation Drive. They’ve made our transition possible, and we look forward to many years as neighbours.”

Rob McCann, President of Hamilton Technology Centre asserted “This location of the city is poised for huge economic growth, and we’re pleased to welcome CHCH to the neighbourhood.”

Both operations are looking forward to being in close proximity, future collaborations, and further developing Innovation Drive as a technology and media destination in Hamilton.
